I love the Orange Flavor Natural Calm, and I usually mix it with cold water, but given the added benefits of taking calcium along with magnesium, I decided to try the Natural Calm Plus Calcium. I tried it both with cold and hot water, and the taste was less than pleasant. The raspberry flavor was definitely better, but being a regular at-home tinkerer, I decided to try a few different combinations to make a tastier, more effective nighttime beverage.
The instructions on the Natural calm bottle say to mix the powder with 2-3 oz of hot water to help the magnesium carbonate and the citric acid bond to form magnesium citrate, an easily absorbable form of magnesium. With that in mind, I decided to experiment mixing the Natural Calm with my favorite bedtime tea, Traditional Medicinals Nighty Night Tea with Valerian, and the result was a delicious and soothing tea that helped me fall asleep and stay asleep.
While I will continue to mix the Orange Flavor Natural Calm with cold water, I will start to mix Natural Calm Plus Calcium into a nice bedtime tea. I may even try it with hot chocolate — results to be determined!
